The General setting of Miami Nights is one of political unrest and battles to survive. There are major storylines available for Vampire and Werewolf, and one in the works for Mage. The other stories are more self contained stories for individual plays. Though its possible to not be involved with the major stories and still play Vampires Werewolves and Mages.
The overeaching stories are still about interaction between individuals and small groups. There aren't going to be large battles or huge group plays that you might see in other RPs that often. It's a game of political intrigue. Making allies and improving your place in the world. Sometimes you may have to fight, but most of the time its your wit and personality that will win you the day.
